The Winter 1999
meeting of the LPBA in New Orleans was an unqualified success,
with the largest attendance ever for a winter meeting! Our President,
Cecile Hatfield, descibes the meeting as follows:
For those of you who were unable to attend the LPBA Mid-Winter
Meeting in New Orleans on February 10-14, 1999, you missed a really
great program and meeting. We broke all previous records for attendance
at a Mid-Winter Meeting. As a 20 year member of the Lawyer Pilots
Bar Association I can not remember ever seeing our members have
such a good time at a meeting.
When I became President of the LPBA in August, 1998, many members
reminded me that the Mid-Winter and Annual Meetings should be
FUN. To that end, I appointed Rich Musat as Chair of the Entertainment
Committee for the Banquet. He was assisted by Gary Allen and Jim
Pokorny. The results were fantastic. We not only discovered the
singing talents of our members, via Kareoke, but the place was
jumping and hopping with our members' inventive dancing. We had
Fun, Fun, Fun.
In truth and in fact, the location enabled us to really enjoy
this meeting. The Le Meridian hotel was luxurious and located
right on the parade route. The Mardi Gras celebration added to
the fun. It was spectacular, especially for those of us who have
never before attended Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The French food
at the famous restaurants was great and reservations were never
a problem. The jazz bands were superb. The Mardi Gras parade and
floats were awesome. It was a memorable meeting!
We are planning a superlative Annual Meeting and program in Montreal,
Canada, for July 14-17, 1999. Please join us there for another
fun-packed time, and an outstanding educational CLE program.
